Condition Based
Predictive Maintenance
Understanding the Condition of your machinery at all times
Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) and Predictive Maintenance (PdM)
is defined as the philosophy and practice of maintaining machinery
based on its actual measured physical condition, not on the clock,
calendar, or run-time meters. CBM/PdM technology predicts how long
equipment can continue to operate, when maintenance is needed and
indicates root cause of potential failures.
The TIdata PdM System
The PdM System is a comprehensive managed service. The PdM System
remotely collects real-time data and analyzes the data to understand
the operating health of the major equipment systems on the drilling
rig. Potential problems are predicted and corrected before they
become critical failures. Overall maintenance practice and the work
order process (PM’s) is improved. Replacing time-based actions with
condition-based management greatly reduces maintenance costs.
The PdM System utilizes multiple technologies to collect the data
from components and expert software to analyze and interpret the
data. Useable information supporting maintenance management is
distributed through the Internet or the company intranet to all
permitted users.
The PdM System is vendor neutral, flexible and integrates with
existing or planned CMMS and Asset Management software systems. It
enables new technologies as they are developed and easily supports
the addition of new, upgraded, and sensor enabled machinery. It is
globally scalable to accommodate all rigs and equipment systems.
The PdM System improves reliability, eliminates unplanned equipment
failures, reduces maintenance costs, improves performance and
extends the life of the assets. Managing the maintenance of
machinery assets by intimately understanding its health and
condition at all times is a proven “best practice” and delivers a
tremendous return on investment.
Our goal is to help the offshore Driller operate and maintain their
machinery efficiently, effectively and safely.

Elements of the PdM System
-
PdM System
Design – includes the sensor engineering and
installation for monitoring all major equipments systems (top
drive, mud pumps, draw works) and components (bearings, gears,
drives, lubricants).
-
Data
Infrastructure – consists of the data collection,
processing and communications to the Maintenance Intelligence
Center, formatting and archiving all data.
-
Statistical Analysis/Predictive Analytics –
trend, variant, deviation and regression analysis, predictive
modeling and building rule structures.
-
Access
and Delivery to Users – from the data analysis, screens,
reports are accessed by the users, alarms/alerts are
communicated immediately, relevant data is integrated into
customer applications (SAP/ERP, EAM, CMMS).
